The Unexpected Gardener

Our 2010 Gold Medal winning Chelsea Garden 'The Unexpected Gardener’ now forms part of our Garden Gallery based at our head office in Beech Hill, near Reading

It is designed for a mature, stylish gentleman and provides practical support and structure, including raised planting beds, an outdoor fireplace and seating area for entertaining and contemplation. More needed…….

The sumptuous planting combinations include:

•    rich blues and purples of Irises with Iris 'Jamie Roo' making its debut appearance

•    caramels and browns of velvet-textured roses, including Rosa 'Hot Chocolate'

•    a rare Geranium 'Southease Celestial'

Inspiration for the garden came after the designer Jo Thompson visited one of our garden projects and some of the plants were grown and nurtured by Thrive's disabled gardeners.

We were delighted to show a rare Geranium 'Southease Celestial' grown by Roger Platt, and Iris 'Jamie Roo' bred by Brian Hersey.
